Episode 21 – Nellies Road Trip

On Show 21 “Nellie’s Road Trip we are joined by Ireland team manager Neil “Nellie” Booth. Neil is currently on a road trip around Ireland visiting 52 outdoor bowls clubs and taking a three end challenge. It is all for a good cause as he is raising funds for two mental health charities Mindwise’ and ‘Pieta House’

Episode 22 – Simply The Best

Episode 23 – Two Leg-ends and a can

This is a continuation of our “Simply the Best” show as we had that much chatter from our two guests Alex Marshall MBE and David Corkill. During the show the lads tackle straight bowls, COVID effect on clubs, will there be a new era, the proposed changes to the women’s home international’s and generally kick the can down the street, plus don’t miss boiler-gate.

We have tried something a little bit different with our 25th show, an open forum of invited guests, in the first of two parts we tackle the world indoor singles championship selection issues, old rivalries, straight bowls, a bit of short mat plus a little bit more. Our 26th podcast is a continuation of our Open House forum chat, during the show we cover Potters, live streaming and we ask the million dollar question. We both pick out our highlight of 2020 and also tackle the BBC and of course there are some of the years bloopers.

Episode 28 – Lancashire’s Hot Shot

On our 28th podcast we have Jason Parkinson. You may have heard his sultry tones at the recent WBT event in the commentary box at Potters.
Jason joined us to talk about his role in the commentary box alongside Nicky Brett which was so well received, we also get answers to some pressing WBT questions and we catch up on some interesting work the lad has been doing in his role within his native Lancashire and his plans to extend a similar project into the Northern Counties. Jason is a great character in the sport and has some strong views on where he would like to see it progress, plus we have our usual Alex Marshall Sports Ltd sponsored competition. Episode 29 – Where Did It All Go Wrong?

On our 29th podcast we look back at the event that rocked the sport and made the national newspapers – the World Series Bowls, it promised so much but was left in tatters. We catch up with Mark Courtney who provides a full account of the timeline of events. While most think it is old chip paper news we discuss how ongoing work is pursuing justice for the lost funds. After his appearance on “Lancashire Hot Shot” we have some some left over chat with Jason Parkinson. We have added a new feature covering the World of Sport. Aired 12th March 2021

Episode 30 – Bowls Fit

On our 30th podcast we have a great chat with Katie Bulmer Cooke who is an award winning Fitness Trainer, Speaker and Consultant as well as being a contestant on TV’s The Apprentice. There will be many a bowler itching to get back on the green for the upcoming season but fitness could be a huge factor for some having been stuck in lockdown for what seems an eternity. Katie discusses “Bowlsfit” which was created following a discussion in 2017 and will be making a comeback in the very near future. How did it start? Why do we need it? Who will benefit? How can you do it? Just some of the questions covered and like the sport itself, do not knock it until you try it. We also discuss Katie’s time on “The Apprentice”. How did she find Lord Sugar, Karen Brady and Nick Hewer and what was the overall experience and a local version of Karaoke carpool, our five minute World of Sport segment returns. Episode 31 – Get Shirty

On our 31st show we have Scott Bryson and Kevin Wilkie who have recently set up SK21 a bespoke bowls clothing business in Scotland. We discuss attire in the sport and question whether how we look on the green really makes a difference when it comes to attracting a new audience. We also have a drop in from Tom Warner to discuss the Bournemouth Open later in the season and have a brief chat about its history. Episode 32 – It’s A Dogs Life

On our 32nd show “Dogs Life” we are joined by a good friend of the show Lancashire’s chief cook and bottle washer Mister Jason Parkinson to discuss the Manchester Open he has been organising. We discuss our new venture into the world of live streaming and give our views on the new Bowls England competition formats from a player and spectator perspective. Following a report should the alarm bells be ringing for the sport at the Commonwealth Games. We delve into the pressures of staying top of your sport, our five minute World Of Sport has an Olympics theme to it. Plus we discuss Bowls England’s new five year plan and much more. On our 34th show we are joined by the new Bowls England singles champion Devon’s Sam Tolchard. Sam gives us an insight into his career, balancing home life as an elite bowler plus he gives the Bowls England formats a once over. We are also joined by the new Bowls England Under 25 team manager Stuart Thomas. Stu discusses his plans for the Under 25 team and a brief career rundown. Episode 35 – New Beginnings

On our 35th podcast is called “New Beginnings” and its ladies night as we touch base with two good friends of the show. England internationalist Sian Honnor joins us to reveal why she is leaving the Bowls International magazine after seven years, Sian also gives us an update on her efforts to secure a place into the Commonwealth Games squad plus she has a little chat after trying Bowls Fit. We are also joined by top fitness coach and former star of the BBC’s The Apprentice Katie Bulmer Cooke again. Six months down the line Katie gives us an update on where the Bowlsfit project is at. We have an update on our competitions plus hang on to your hats after 12 months Richies Round Up is out of isolation. Aired 15th October 2021

On our 36th podcast “Arthur’s Story” we have something slightly different for your ears with a discussion about the Arthur Wharton Foundation.
North East based Darlington South Park bowls club recently held a fundraising event for the foundation and invited Bolty and Alex Marshall MBE to see the great work that has been spearheaded by our guest Shaun Campbell. If you love your history and love your sport this is a great listen, if like the lads you have no idea who Arthur Wharton is you certainly will now. You will also see a very large statue at the heart of St George’s Park (FA Headquarters) in honour of the man. Aired 14th November 2021

Our 37th podcast “Let It DBE” (bit of a Beatles pun) features a cracking chat with two of Disability Bowls England members Antony Page and Khalila Hussain. During the chat we find out a little bit about them both and from a disabled player some of their experiences within the sport. Also on the show Waldorf and Statler (aka the two hosts) kick the can down the street on topics ranging from the new Bowls England awards evening and the plans to change the international series format. On show 41 “Ladies Night” we are joined by three ladies from around the country. Amy Williams (Wales), Rachel Cartwright (Northumberland) and Gillian Hinsley (Lancashire) join Stadler and Waldoff in discussing the women’s game and expand on their experiences that they have had since playing this sport of ours. Episode 42 – It’s A Brum Life

During the show Stadler & Waldoff look back at the recent Commonwealth Games held at Birmingham, we also give our verdict on the much talked about BBC TV coverage of the sport. We also discuss a Commonwealth Games demo “sport” that is ESPORTS. An alternate Games event gets a deserved mention plus there is a around up of the PBA Qualifiers. Finally one of us is crocked ….. guess who. Aired on 11th August 2022.

Episode 43 – #sufferingbuffering

As one season closes another starts, in the show we review the Bowls England championships highlighting the positives and discussing the few grumbles. We discuss some recent Channel Four exposure for the sport. The PBA qualifiers feature heavily as we have been out in the rickshaw doing a bit streaming. Plus we ask are the outdoor greens killing the games enjoyment for more and more players…… and bit Mary Poppins (you read it correct… honest) Aired on 19th October 2022.

Episode 44 – Short And Sweet

As a lead up to Christmas we give the recent Scottish International Open the once over, there is a catch up on our final live streaming road trip of the year and we doff our caps to the “dashing” Sam Tolchard on his recent World Champion of Champions success, plus a little bit more chat. As it will be our last podcast before Christmas on behalf of both of us “Merry Christmas” and as always thanks for your support with the podcast and the live streaming…… it has been a blast. On show 48 “It’s A Hard Knock Life” we are joined by Annie (hence the title… Bolty gets paid pennies for coming up with these titles) Dunham as we look by at her experience in the recent women’s Home International series at Abbeyview.
